MOON
CIRCLE
SUZANNE ROUGE

The Moon Circle wellness center is envisioned as a hempcrete construction
green building. The central gathering space is designed to accommodate 300
people for presentations, community events and private classes. It is a solar
and wind powered facility. The water in the sauna and therapy pool is purified
as it is recycled through natural filters providing radiant heat throughout the
building.
The
building is in the shape and holds the intention of the Medicine Wheel. An
aerial view of the building also depicts the shape of a turtle representing our
connection with the earth. The Medicine Wheel encompasses the four stages of
life. Four pods that house offices for six practitioners as well as a restroom,
kitchenette and office area surround the central gathering space.
The
first pod faces the East and houses services for fertility, birthing and child
rearing. The second pod, located in the South, is designated for healing
modalities such as massage, reflexology, healing touch, acupuncture, etc. The
West-facing pod houses practitioners of progressive forms of psychological
therapy such as dreamwork, resonance repatterning, hypnotherapy, mid-life
coaching etc. The fourth pod, facing the North, houses services that address the
needs of elders and the support people who care for them. It is also a forum for
elders to share their wisdom with the larger community.
The
front entry of the building is an atrium that houses an area for people to
remove their shoes and hang their coats. There is a receptionist area and store
that features the products that the practitioners offer for their clients’
convenience as well as books, tools, and clothing. (There are many local hemp
enthusiasts ready to market their goods through the Moon Circle.)
The
landscaping features educational gardens of native wildflowers, and interactive
gardens that facilitate mindfulness practices including a labyrinth and medicine
wheel. There is a space provided for a therapy pool and sauna.
Phase
two of the Moon Circle project includes the construction of a professional
kitchen/classroom and dining hall in a separate building. Yurts and little
houses are provided to guests for week-long intensives. Establishing vegetable
gardens to provide some of the food necessary for the kitchen is part of a CSA
(community sustainable agriculture) work study program. Scholarships for
services are offered in exchange for maintenance of the building, gardens and
housing facilities.
The
Moon Circle activities feature prominent speakers as well as local talent and
will coordinate with the Bella Sparks speaking schedule. Aspen Club (over 50
wellness program) members receive special discounts and are encouraged to share
their gifts and philosophical perspectives with the community. The central
gathering space will be rented during the weekdays to private teachers offering
classes like Yoga, Tai Chi, Ecstatic Dance and meditation practices. Ticket
sales for speakers and monthly rental for office space will provide sustainable
income for the Moon Circle.
The
return of hemp to U.S. soil is an opportunity to re-create culture based on
sustainable, healthy products and practices. The time has arrived for the Moon
Circle to lead the way in show casing what hemp can do for America. Together,
let’s create the infrastructure for sustainability, healing and community.
I
would love to speak with you further about the potential of manifesting this
vision and creating community in the Northern Colorado region.
